Hindi feature film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (TJMM) led by Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor has shown a smashing trend trend over it’s opening weekend. It will enter the Rs 100 crore club in no time at all on its way as the movie is being hailed by cinegoers, fans, critics and the film industry as a genuine blockbuster.

Film starring Ranbir Kapoor already a blockbuster six days after releaseThe Holi festival 2023 weekend saw the release of the romantic comedy, a Luv Ranjan directorial. It took a good start making its way into the hearts of filmgoers with its brilliant acting by Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles proving that Rom-Com’s are alive and films don’t need fake paid reviews or planted media stories to prove they are a hit.

An original language, non-franchise, non-action film in the post-pandemic era gained excellent reviews and attracted audiences with its original language, non-franchise, non-action content. TJMM’s weekend trend indicates that rom-coms are alive and well and can continue to attract audiences on the big screen.

About 95 percent of Bollywood films get lower than the 5-day weekend collection of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Moreover the film has made excellent money from satellite, digital and music sales and is well on its way to becoming an all-time superhit. The post-pandemic times have been tough for the Hindi film industry with films struggling to hit even the Rs 100 crore mark, and a 125-crore finish is also a positive sign.

So much so that in recent months, production houses have had to resort to buying and distributing free tickets and screening films in empty houses in order to generate fake collections for films of has-been-ageing superstars who refuse to accept failure. While word-of-mouth for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is definitely helping the film and indicates that the reports are adequate to propel the film forward to more success.
